Discovered and roughly mapped on January 11, 1910, by the French Antarctic Expedition under Dr. Jean-Baptiste Charcot, and named by him in association with Mount Monique and Mount Marion Nunataks after his daughter, Martine. Photographed from the air on February 9, 1947, by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump and mapped from these photos by Searle of the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) in 1960.
