Mount Gardner

Mount Gardner (78°23′S 86°2′W / 78.383°S 86.033°W / -78.383; -86.033) is a mountain (4,685 m) standing 1.5 nautical miles (2.8 km) west of Mount Tyree in the W-central part of the Sentinel Range, Ellsworth Mountains. Discovered by the Marie Byrd Land Traverse party, 1957–58, under C.R. Bentley. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Lieutenant Harvey L. Gardner, U.S. Navy, pilot in Antarctica in 1957-58 and 1958-59 seasons, who was killed in the crash of a UB-1 Otter airplane at Marble Point on January 4, 1959.
