First mapped by United States Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1957-59. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for LTJG Lawrence J. Farrell, U.S. Navy, who died in the crash of a UB-1 Otter airplane at Marble Point on January 4, 1959.
