Mount Dougherty is a mountain, 2,790 m, between Mount Sandved and Mount Cara on the main north-south ridge in the north part of the Queen Elizabeth Range. Mapped by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) from tellurometer surveys and Navy air photos, 1960-62. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Ellsworth C. Dougherty, United States Antarctic Research Program (USARP) biologist at McMurdo Sound, 1959–60 and 1961-62.
