Mount Dort

Mount Dort (85°54′S 158°53′W / 85.9°S 158.883°W / -85.9; -158.883) is a conspicuous ice-free mountain, 2,250 m, projecting into the east side of Amundsen Glacier just south of the mouth of Cappellari Glacier. Discovered and first mapped by the Byrd Antarctic Expedition, 1928-30. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Wakefield Dort, Jr., geologist at McMurdo Station, summer 1965-66, and exchange scientist at the Japanese Showa Station, winter 1967.
