- Mosquito bat
-
A mosquito bat or bug bat is a device for killing mosquitos and other flying insects. It looks like a tennis racket but is strung with wires which are charged with 1000 volts and so electrocute any insects which make contact with it. It is powered by DC batteries. One advantage of it is that, unlike other mosquito repellents, it does not give off harmful chemicals. It may spark and so be a fire hazard but the Consumer Affairs department of Victoria in Australia tested the Mosquito Terminator Bat and found that it complied with their electrical safety standards.[1][2]
