Hodgson, 1839The Alpine Musk Deer (Moschus chrysogaster) is a species of musk deer. It is occurs the highlands of central China, south and west to the Himalayas. Two subspecies are recognized:
- M. c. chrysogaster, Southern Tibet.
- M. c. sifanicus, Qinghai, Gansu, Ningxia, western Sichuan and northwestern Yunnan.
Records from the Himalayan foothills are now considered a separate species, the Himalayan Musk Deer.
