Pascal Gabriel

Pascal Gabriel

Pascal Gabriel is a Belgian musician. His musical career began in 1977 in the punk rock band The Razors (bass guitar and backup vocals). He left Belgium for London in the late 1970s and worked as a freelance sound engineer in various studios, earning a reputation for innovative remixes for artists like Marc Almond (formerly of the duo Soft Cell) and Yello.

Toward the end of the 1980s, Gabriel was a producer and co-writer for S'Express and Bomb the Bass -- two of the first sample-heavy dancefloor artisans of that era. He claimed number one UK singles with the S'Express track "Theme from S'Express" and Bomb the Bass' "Beat Dis."

Following the success of S'Express and Bomb the Bass, Gabriel embarked on a series of projects, mixing, producing and writing with a variety of artists, including Claudia Brücken (formerly of Propaganda), Erasure, and Debbie Harry from Blondie.

In the '90s, Gabriel moved away from beats and breaks and into the pop music world, co-producing the track "Regret" for New Order. He also collaborated with EMF, Inspiral Carpets and Kitchens of Distinction.

In 1997 he formed the band Peach (known as "Peach Union" in the US due to an American band already utilizing the name), presenting himself as an ultimately mature, sophisticated and multi-dimensional production master, which resulted in a US top 30 album.

In 1999, Gabriel met an unsigned singer named Dido, for whom with he wrote several songs. "I'm No Angel" and "Here with Me" appeared on Dido's multi-million selling debut album "No Angel".

In 2002, Gabriel began writing with and producing tracks for Australia's Kylie Minogue, including "Your Love" for her "Fever" album, "Tightrope" (a "Fever" bonus track and b-side) and various other unreleased tracks called "No Better Love" (which leaked online in 2003), "Heavenly", "So High" and "Tripping Me Up" & "I'm Sorry" (which were demos for the "Body Language" album that leaked onto the internet in 2006). Since then, he has collaborated with other popular artists including Natalie Imbruglia, Rachel Stevens and Bebel Gilberto

He has recently co-written and produced several tracks for Sophie Ellis-Bextor's album "Trip the Light Fantastic", co-wrote & produced fabulous electro artist Miss Kittin's new solo album 'BatBoxxx', and several tracks on New Zealand's rising star Ladyhawke's forthcoming album
