"Bathory" is the debut album of the Swedish black metal band Bathory. It is considered one of the first recorded examples that defined the black metal style.

Originally the title for this album was "Pentagrammaton," but this title wasdiscarded when several people read it as "Pentagon." The pentagram was moved tothe back of the album cover and replaced with a retouched portion of a drawing made by Joseph A. Smith in1981 for the book "Witches" by [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erica_Jong Erica Jong] .

It was first printed in 1000 vinyl copies, with a yellow goat instead of a white one. On the reissue of the CD in 1990, "Storm of Damnation" and the outro aren't mentioned in the tracklist. [http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=754]
