Emphasis will be placed on determining how the presence or absence of proteins affects biological responses and how the interaction of proteins with germane cellular partners allows them to function. Thus, the focus clearly will be on both structural and functional aspects of proteins.."[2]
The journal also publishes other content such as "HUPO views", which are reports from the Human Proteome Organization (HUPO),[3][4] proceedings from HUPO meetings,[5] and the proceedings of the International Symposium On Mass Spectrometry In The Life Sciences.[6]
The co-editors in chief are A.L. Burlingame and Ralph A. Bradshaw.[7] All articles are available free one year after publication. In press articles are available free on its website immediately after acceptance.
