Modern Welding Company, Inc.

Modern Welding Company is the country's largest supplier of Underwriters Laboratories listed, underground and aboveground steel storage tanks for flammable and combustible liquids. Modern has eleven manufacturing subsidiaries nationwide offering regional and national service. The company also manufactures chemical storage tanks and ASME pressure vessels and performs steel fabrication fabrication.[1]

History

Modern Welding Company was founded in June 1932 in Owensboro, Kentucky in a small shop located near the Ohio River at 1st and Frederica Street where the Commonwealth of Kentucky office building is today and began expanding operations as early as 1937 with the acquisition of a plant in Madisonville, Kentucky. Modern Welding was founded by Mr. John G. Barnard (1898–1982); "Mr. Pete", as everyone called him.
