At 80sq km (1.5 times the size of Manhattan)[1] and containing 22 golf courses[2] and luxury hotels,[3] it will be the second largest golf complex in the world.[4] The largest is the Mission Hills Golf Club in Shenzhen.
The complex has been under construction since 2006, but stopped for several months during 2008 because of land disputes.[5] It is due to open some time in 2011.[6]
The complex is expected to host the 2010 Mission Hills Star Trophy and 2011 Omega Mission Hills World Cup.[6]

The complex is also expected to contain 12 world-class restaurants, a fully equipped sports and recreation centre, tennis courts, and an aquatic theme park, natural mineral springs, a spa, and a shopping arcade.[7]
