Pakistan's Ministry of Religious Affairs known as the Zakat or Ushr,[citation needed] is a government agency of Pakistan, with its head office in Islamabad.[1] It is responsible for the pilgrimage beyond Pakistan of Muslim citizens. Pakistani pilgrims visit India for Ziarat and Saudi Arabia for Umra and Hajj. The ministry is also responsible for the welfare and safety of pilgrims and zairines.
As of 2011 Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah is the minister.[2]

Description
Ministry of Religious Affairs, Zakat and Ushr consists of one division; Religious Affairs, Zakat and Ushr Division. Pilgrimage beyond Pakistan
This Ministry is responsible for the pilgrimage beyond Pakistan, Muslims pilgrims visits to India for Ziarat and Saudi Arabia for Umra & Hajj.The welfare and safety of pilgrims and Zairines. The main activities also include research based Islamic studies, holding of conferences, seminars, training education of Ulemas and Khateebs, proper organization of zakat and exchange of visits of scholars of Islamic learning with the liaison amongst foreign and international institutions. This Division also performs the activities like management of Ruit-e-Hilal, Dawah, council of Islamic Ideology, infants and minor adoption laws, distribution and utilization of Zakat and Ushr Fund, investment of Zakat Funds in non-profit bearing instruments as permitted under Shariah including the monitoring of collection, disbursement and periodical annual inspection and audit. There are six subordinate offices working as Directorates of Hajj of this Ministry and two Autonomous bodies i.e. Council of Islamic Ideology and Pakistan Madrassah Education Board.
