  • Prior to 1996, Milson was part of the Manawatu electorate. This electorate included parts of Palmerston North, east of Ruahine Street as well as Linton Camp, Turitea, Aokautere and Kelvin Grove. However, due to the reformation of the electoral system from FPP to MMP, the electorate of Rangitikei's boundaries were redrawn to include Milson.
  • Rangitikei (as at 2006) is represented by New Zealand National MP Simon Power. Power spent some of his earlier life in Milson.
  • Milson made a name for itself in the local papers during early 2007 when a flat on a predominant intersection became the home of member(s) from a well known illegal street racing gang, and was the epicentre of many loud and ruacous parties which spilled over into the street which caused disruption and huge cost to the council. Lack of evidence prevented the organisers and perpetrators from being held accountable
