- Mike Kirkby

Mike Kirkby (born 6 May 1937) is a British geographer and emeritus professor of physical geography based at the University of Leeds.[1]
Mike became a professor of physical geography at the University of Leeds in 1973[1] and was Head of Department for the School of Geography for three terms, from 1978 to 1981, from 1984 to 1987, and from 1992 to 1995. He career at the University of Leeds followed on from lecturing in geography at the University of Bristol.[1]
In 1976 Mike was gained a Gill Memorial award from the Royal Geographical Society.[2] In 1989 he gained a David Linton award from the British Geomorphological Research Group.[2] In 1999 he was awarded a Founder's Medal by the Royal Geographical Society / Institute of British Geographers.[3] In 2004 he became a fellow of the American Geophysical Union.[1][2]
