Wisley, England is a small village in Surrey, between Cobham and Ripley. It is the home of the Royal Horticultural Society's Wisley Garden. The River Wey runs through the village.

Wisley gives its name to the nearby road intersection of the A3 London to Portsmouth trunk road and the London Orbital M25 motorway, Junction 10.

Wisley appears in Domesday Book of 1086 as "Wiselei". It was held by Osuuold (Oswold). Its domesday assets were: 1½ hides; 1 church, 1 mill worth 10s, 3 ploughs, 1 fishery worth 5d, convert|6|acre|m2 of meadow, woodland worth 6 hogs. It rendered £3. Amenities

Wisley Golf Club is located in the village, and has celebrity members including Tim Henman.

Wisley Airfield, actually located in the parish of Ockham, is situated next to the junction of the M25/A3 [ [http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&t=k&ll=51.30717,-0.46207&spn=0.012046,0.02635&t=k Google Maps Location of Wisley Airfield] ] and has a 6691 foot (1.27 miles) runway.

In woodland near the village and around the M25/A3 junction, there are numerous cross-country mountain bike trails, as well as several highly regarded "secret" dirt jumping trails.

High temperatures

2004

On 5 September 2004, Wisley recorded a temperature of 29.2°C, beating 28.6°C, which was recorded in Cardiff.

2006 heatwave

On 19 July 2006 the hottest temperature ever recorded in the month of July in the United Kingdom was recorded at Wisley, 36.5 °C (97.7 °F). This broke the record of 36.0 °C recorded in Epsom, Surrey on 22 July 1911.
