MPRI began treating patients in 2004, the third active proton therapy center in the United States.[2] MPRI has treated over 1000 patients.[3] MPRI's pediatric program is affiliated with Riley Hospital for Children, which is ranked among the top 30 children's hospitals in the nation.[4] MPRI is the only proton therapy center in the U.S. to use a uniform-scanning beam for dose delivery,[5] which decreases undesirable neutron dose to patients.[6]
