History
On October 1, 2008, Microsoft announced that people could search and redeem tickets for prizes on Live Search SearchPerks! When signing up a person receives 500 tickets and then up to 25 tickets per day (1 per search). From January 21 - 23 a person can receive two tickets per search and a maximum of 50 per day when searching on most Microsoft sites such as Hotmail. People can redeem their tickets for prizes several weeks after April 15, 2009, when the offer ends.[1][2] The sign-up period was limited to the first 1,000,000 people who signed up before December 31, 2008.
The prizes ranged from frequent flyer miles to Xbox games. The sign up requires a Windows Live ID. Users must download a toolbar for Internet Explorer, which tracks daily and total ticket accruals and provides links to the SearchPerks site.
