Racing career
Michail Stepanov, a former mathematician,[1] began his racing career in 2004 on the Russian Touring Car Racing Circuit. Stepanov began to slowly establish a name for himself with his daredevil flawless style of driving resulting in very few collisions. At the Russian Touring Car Championship of 2006, Michail Stepanov finished second[1] while racing during a heavy torrential thunderstorm.[3] He was the only driver in the race who was not involved in a collision and stated that "as a whole, the race went well, and if it wasn't for the breakdown of the equipment at the pit stop, the (2nd place) result would have been much better."[3]
In 2010 Michail Stepanov began racing for the Yaco Racing Team behind the wheel of a Toyota Auris S2000 in the Division 1 German ADAC Procar Series.[4] After 13 races during the 2010 ADAC Procar Series season, Michael Stepanov earned 29 points and finished the year in 9th overall position.[2]
So far the 2011 ADAC Procar Series season has been Michail Stepanov's best year yet, with a steadily growing international fanbase and a number of new sponsorship deals ourside the racetrack. At the second event of the 2011 racing season, Stepanov took 2nd place at the Sachsenring racetrack.[5] As of early October 2011, Michail Stepanov raced 12 times with 4 podiums, earning a total of 58 points, and is in the 4th overall position in the 1st division ADAC Procar Series.[2]
