Michael Schilkin (May 1 Trubino, Russia –May 3, 1962 Helsinki) was a Russian-born Finnish ceramist and long time Arabia artist form 1935 until his death.
Schilkin was born at Trubino, Russia but lived in Torzhok and worked as taylor in Saint Petersburg.
After the Russian Revolution Schilkin worked as clerk in railway station in Leningrad.
In 1921 Schilkin was sailing with local sailing club in Lake Ladoga.Sailboat got accidentally at Finnish side and border guard arrested the retinue. After the examination Schilkin moved to Mikkeli where he worked as hired man in farmhouse.
While working in a yacht he could go to Helsinki where he worked as stone cutter. After studied at Aalto University School of Art and Design he made his career in Arabia and made animal sculpture's.
Schilikin got Finnish citizenship in 1937 by help of sculptor Wäinö Aaltonen. He mixed different kinds of glass and other materials and used very strong colours and made small sculpture's In 1958 Schilkin got the Pro Finlandia -medal.
Schilkin is buried at the Orthodox section of Hietaniemi cemetery in Helsinki.
