Michael Mitchell was born in Montreal, Quebec in 1954. He is commonly known as a singer and a performer for kids. With pre-recorded musical accompaniment, Michael performs solo. He performs about 250 shows in different schools all throughout Canada. Michael Mitchell tours about 200 days a year. The length of the shows are about an hour long. He performs to grades 1-6, sometimes kindergarten too.

He has many music books for kids to learn his songs. Big Canadian Music Book has 25 songs to learn from. There are lyric sheets included.

He was nominated for many awards. Canadian Children’s Book Centre was for one of his music books called “Big Canadian Music Book.” He won an award for best independent release at the Canada Music Week celebrations. Canada Is For Kids- Volume 3 received an award for Starred Selection as a product of Exceptional Caliber.

Michael loves donating money to the different schools he performed at. He donated about $250,000 within all the schools he performed at. Recently, Michael has donated more than 100 coloring books in a small school in Africa.

Michael loved teaching other students where he came from. A lot of his songs were about Canada, and he always talked about Canada when he visited the schools.

Michael Mitchell is also known for being the songwriter and recording artist for Sesame Street. One of the songs he has written is called, Canada In My Pocket.
