Michael Messenger is an English designer.[1] His early life was spent in the Middle East and the Far East. He was educated at Winchester College. He went on to study industrial design at the Royal College of Art.
Messenger has designed many products, including yachts, powerboats, hospitality and technical units for Formula One teams such as Brawn F1, Honda F1, Williams F1, Mclaren and Renault F1, and inflatable structures used to provide shelter in areas suffering from natural disasters.
In 1991, he founded AirCell Structures, and serves as Design Director.[1] One project, the TronjiDome, developed in conjunction with Lindstrand Balloons on behalf of Ragdoll Productions was featured on BBC TV's 'Tomorrow's World'.
His designs have been used to provide shelter and improve sanitation in the aftermath of the Kashmir earthquake, the flooding in the Irrawaddy Delta of Myanmar, and in Zimbabwe where British Red Cross cholera control centres have stemmed the spread of disease with the introduction of portable squat toilets made of ultra lightweight plastics.
