Since releasing his debut recording as a leader, Under the Wire for Enja Records in 1991,[1] he has appeared on over thirty records for Soul Note, Justin' Time, Not Two, Boxholder, Ayler, Drimala. CIMP & Qwest/Warner. He has composed over 100 original/recorded compositions. Michael continues to tour domestically and internationally with his group, performing his original material primarily on Bb clarinet.
Michael's first professional gigs on the road were with Albert King & Bobby "Blue" Bland. He has toured and recorded with Mr. Jaki Byard. With Sonny Simmons, he is the co-leader of "The Cosmosamatics". They have 8 recordings as a group and continue to tour. Also, Michael is part of "Duology" with Ted Daniel (clarinet & trumpet duet)
2011, Michael's most recent release is on Not Two Records called "For Yes!"
