Michael Jardine First appearance "The Killing Philosophy" Last appearance "Death Trap" Created by Glenn Chandler Portrayed by James MacPherson Information Gender Male Occupation Detective Chief Inspector Title DCI Jardine Detective Chief Inspector Michael "Mike" Jardine was a long-running character in the television series Taggart. He served as Detective Sergeant after Peter Livingstone left the force from 1987 to 1994 when Jim Taggart died and he took over as Detective Chief Inspector. He was killed in the episode Death Trap which aired in 2002 and was replaced by a member of Special Branch, Matt Burke.
