Lieutenant Colonel Michael Holmes (born 1966),[1] U.S. Army National Guard, communicated alleged disclosures regarding use of psychological operations (PsyOps) on visiting legislators while Holmes was leader of the Information Operations unit at Camp Eggers in Kabul, Afghanistan.[2] Among the alleged targets were Senators John McCain and Carl Levin. Media reports stated that the unit was subjected to a retaliatory campaign when it resisted the order to engaged in the alleged use of PsyOps, including a subsequent reprimand against LCOL Holmes.[3]
Holmes's national service began in the U.S. Army and the National Guard in 1986, and is reported to be a career intelligence officer with training in psychological operations.[4] He attended Admiral Farragut Academy in St. Petersburg (1978–1980) and served in the Florida National Guard (1997–2003). He later moved to Texas and now serves in its Army National Guard.
