Michael John Goldacre (born 3 January 1944 in Melbourne, Australia[1]) is a medical doctor who has been professor of public health at the University of Oxford since 2002, and a fellow of Magdalen College since 1985.[1] He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health.[1]
Goldacre has been at the University of Oxford since 1974, when he was appointed clinical lecturer in social and community medicine.[1] Since 1986, he has been the Director of the Unit of Health-Care Epidemiology. He was also scientific director of the South East England Public Health Observatory from 2000 until 2005.[1]
His son is the science writer Ben Goldacre.[2]
