Background
Micah was born in Portsmouth, Ohio and raised by his parents Rick and Teresa Schweinsberg. Rick and Teresa had their own gospel music group, True Gospel Sounds, which first allowed him to perform on stage at a very young age.[1] His father, Rick, has had much success and experience in the music industry in being a radio d.j./program director, songwriter, producer for Daywind Recording Studios, record label developer, and audio engineer.[5] His mother, Teresa, is an educator and manages a booking agency called the New South Artists Agency.[6]
Musical career
Early Years
At age five, Micah made national music charts with his first radio single, “I’ve Got the Devil by the Tail", which was a "Christian" remake of the Buck Owens classic "I've Got A Tiger by the Tail". He then began playing the fiddle and drums in his parents' gospel group until they disbanded when he was fifteen years old.[1]
3PO
3P0 was the name of a Christian rock band that Micah helped to form and played the drums for when he was a teenager. Other members of the group included Michelle Kelly(lead vocalist), Zach Daniels(bass), and Seth Morrison(guitar).[7] Besides playing drums for the band, he wrote songs and composed the music, which helped form the group's unique sound leading Fervent Records to take interest in the group. The band also managed to tie for first place at the Festival Con Dios talent contest with the Newsboys. 3PO played beside CCM acts Toby Mac, Jaci Velasquez, Audio Adrenaline, Kirk Franklin, Switchfoot, Disciple, Relient K, Tait, Kutless, Staple, Rachel Lampa, Sanctus Real, Stavesacre, Solomon's Wish, and many more.[1]
Justifide
In 2002, Micah began touring and playing drums with the Christian rock band Justifide.[8] For two years, he toured across the United States and internationally throughout Germany, Italy, and Switzerland. Micah played Spirit West Coast, Rock the Desert, Rock the Canyon, Ballinger Rock Festival in Germany and numerous other festivals around the world. In his time with the band, they held the longest running CHR number one single.[2]
The Crabb Family
From 2004-2007, Micah played drums for The Crabb Family, a Grammy nominated and Dove Award winning gospel music group until the family group separated into different careers. He became a member of the famous Crabb Family Band at the release of the "Driven" Album and contributed to drums and songwriting on two Crabb Family projects, including their final release "Letting Go." This allowed him to be introduced to and favored among many Gospel music fans.[1][2] During his time touring with The Crabb Family, he performed at the Dove Awards in 2005 and 2007, numerous times on Grand Ole Opry, TBN, and Daystar Television Network.[2]
Crabb Revival
After The Crabb Family disbanded, Micah began playing drums for the Dove Award nominated group Crabb Revival, which included Adam Crabb, Terah Crabb Penhollow, and Zach Smith from the original Crabb Family.[9] While touring with the band, he pulled double-duty, playing bass guitar for CCM artist, Warren Barfield.[2]
Studio musician
Among other jobs, Micah is currently a studio drummer in Nashville, Tennessee and has played on numerous artists' albums and recordings including Austins Bridge, The Crabb Family, Crabb Revival, and Red Roots.
