Political life
He was actively involved in the pre-independence politics of the Indian Subcontinent. He started his political career as a young worker of Pakistan Movement from the platform of "All India Muslim League". In 1938, he refused the offer of British Indian Government to become an Inspector in the Indian Police. He was selected General Secretary of All India Muslim League Swabi Region in 1938. He was famous for his well selection of dress. He was always seen in his traditional dress including "Sherwani" (a long coat), Jinnah Cap and shoes. He was the chief presiding officer of the Swabi regions in the historic referendum of 1947, held in whole of North-West Frontier Province (NWFP) for its affiliation either with Pakistan or India. Later on All India Muslim League won the referendum and NWFP became a part of Pakistan. After independence, Kakakhel was selected "Assessor" by Peshawer High Court on January 1, 1949 and thus he was given the authority of conducting the summary trials of regional cases. He served on this post till February 26, 1961. In 1952 he was selected Advisor of Rural Affairs to the Governor of NWFP, Sir Sahibzada Khursheed but he refused this offer and continued serving as an Assessor.
Early in 1945 before partition, General Gracy, a commander in British Indian Army visited him at his house and praised his personality. This was criticised by many members of Muslim league and his other friends. but later on it was confirmed that it was just a private meeting and nothing else. General Gracy too, denied such misshappenings and openly declared that he is a friend of Mian Sahib and that the meeting was not a political one.
On the imposition of Martial Law in 1958, certain politicians came under the EBDO's act. Kakakhel also faced the same act and thus was forced not to participate in politics by military government of General Ayub Khan. Later on, Peshawer High Court dissolved his designation as an Assessor while facing a trial regarding a regional clash with the peoples of his village. He remained actively involved in the affairs of his area till 1980, after which he retired from his political career and devoted his life for religious practices till his death.
In 1951, the then Governor of NWFP, Sir Sahibzada Khursheed visited to him at his village and was deeply impressed by his behaviour and devotion to his duty as "Judicial Assessor". The governor Sir Sahibzada Khursheed expressed his words as,
“ It has been an honour for me that I have been invited here by a brave, noble, straight forward and devoted worker of Pakistan's Movement. I have found Mian Hazrat Jamal Kakakhel as the most sincere and devoted Assessors among all the Assessors acting through whole of NWFP. The taste of hospitality which I received here enlighteness the grace of the personality of Main Sahib. Such peoples born very rarely even in centuries. I love such peoples and I have always prayed that such personalities may produce in this society. Because societies are fuelled not by impersonals but by personalities. And Mian Hazrat Jamal Kakakhel has been absolutely among those model personalities. ” Professional life
One of the most prominent factor of Hazrat Jamal's life was perfect devotion and sincere approach towards his profession as an Assesor to the area by Judiciary. He was known for arranging the minor rural trials of various nature in his own local gathering house, "Hujra" which was called "Speena Banglow" in Pushto language(the White Castle, in English). He along with the Deputy Commissioner of the District were seen in practise of resolving the various trials under the Pakistan Penal Code. So many people got the benefit of getting quick results of the trials with open justice and confedence. Also the problem of visiting to court which was far away of many villages, was largely avoided and the people started getting quick relief due to launching of trials in the Hujra of Mian Hazrat Jamal Kakakhel. Thus beyond many reigonal controversies, there was a general expression of love and affection by the people towards Mian Hazrat Jamal Kakakhel.
