(1998)Was Sport Better in the '70s? (2003) Metal vs Hip Hop is the name of a single by the Drugs off their 2002 album Music's in Trouble. An early version was released on the The Bold and the Beautiful single under the title "No Place with Hip Hop".
Themes
The song is a parody of the nu-metal genre. It begins with this short spoken piece:
Here's the nu metal checklist according to the Drugs!
You want your cap on back to front, check!
You want your wallet chain, check!
You want your 3/4 length pants, check!
Yeah, check this OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!It then goes on to describe nu metal as similar to "mixing techno up with the Beatles" and calling Limp Bizkit a soggy Sao (in reference to the masturbation game of the same name). It then refers to the Run-DMC collaboration with Aerosmith on a rap-rock version of Walk This Way then states the following verse:
"Now Mr. Durst has rehearsed could you
put your cap on back to front
So your visor don't hurt my tummy
when you fucking blow me!"It then ends with the lines "Yeah! If I had a dime for every time I saw a sucker, I'd have enough for an eyebrow ring! And then I'd be in! YOUR MOTHER....loves you very much. St(beep)cun(beep)ash(beep)nothin'(beep), big(beep)di(beep)fference.". The line from the Bold and the Beautiful B-side version is "If I had a dollar for every time I saw a sucker, I'd have about four dollars."
A music video was released showing the Drugs dressed as a nu metal band. The video ends with a Drug on a skateboard in an alley.
