Mendori Island

Mendori Island (69°0′S 39°32′E / 69°S 39.533°E / -69; 39.533) is the northernmost in a group of three small islands which lie 0.5 nautical miles (0.9 km) northwest of the strait separating Ongul Island and East Ongul Island. Mapped from surveys and air photos by Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE), 1957-62. The name "Mendori-jima" (hen island) was given by JARE Headquarters in 1972 in association with Ondori Island, which lies 0.2 nautical miles (0.4 km) northward.
