Templeton was born and raised in England.[5] In 2008, she moved to Canada with her parents, who had taken work there and settled near Ottawa. She currently lives in New York.
Templeton started secretly making YouTube videos in her bedroom when she was 16 and eventually her parents found out about it. After a few years working independently in web video and studying fine art at Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Canada, she went to New York to host, write and produce at Rocketboom.[6] Templeton is currently employed by My Damn Channel as Director of Talent & Audience Development.[7]
Also a YouTube partner, her mememolly channel on YouTube is #50 on the all-time most-subscribed list for the U.K., with over 50 million views as of June 2011[update].[2] She has cited lonelygirl15 as one of her inspirations to start making videos.[8] Her September 2007 video "are you anybody's favourite person?" was nominated for Best Commentary video in the 2007 YouTube Awards.[9] As of November 2010[update] she has produced more than 300 videos on her own channel and on Rocketboom combined.
On July 24, 2011, Molly announced on Tumblr and Twitter that she has left Rocketboom.[10]
