The following is a list of membership software that can be used for managing a Membership Site.

Membership software is used to either manage free membership to a website and restrict access to certain parts of the site to those that have signed up, or manage paid membership, allowing access to premium content on a website for a monthly or annual fee.


Open source or free membership software

The following are open source or free software applications that can be used for building membership sites:

  • Open-Source web-based applications
    • CiviCRM with CiviMember module
    • Oxwall with User Roles and membership plugins
    • Drupal with Organic groups module [1]
    • Joomla with Community Builder extension [2] or PayPlans [3]
    • WordPress with various membership plugins.
