Melur taluk

Melur taluk is a taluk of Madurai district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The headquarters of the taluk is the town of Melur.

Population

According to the 2001 census, the taluk of Melur had a population of 251,919 with 125,687 males and 126,232 females. There were 1004 women for every 1000 men. The taluk had a literacy rate of 68.62. The total number of households was 51,808.
