Biography
Melissa has performed at Don't Tell Mama and The Duplex in New York City as well as Davenport's Piano Bar & Cabaret, Drury Lane Water Tower Place, Theater Building Chicago, Bailwick Theater, The Skokie Theater, Hydrate Night Club and the beautifully restored Valentine Theater in Toledo, Ohio.
Melissa has been called "Cabaret Diva!" by Time Out Chicago and Cabaret Hotline hailed "Voice and show presentation, Melissa Young is among the best!".
Originally from Levittown, Pennsylvania, Melissa made her way to Chicago via Pittsburgh where she got her degree at Point Park University.
She has written and performed over seven cabaret shows including the summer smash hits for the Backstage Theater Company, Everything's Sexy parts 1 and 2.
Her solo shows Redheaded Broadway, Lucky Star: Madonna at 50 and Beyond and OUT: A Rainbow Icon Celebration have been performed in clubs in Chicago, New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Melissa is on the Board of The Chicago Cabaret Professionals as well as Big Noise Theater Company.
When not writing about Madonna, the Gay Rights movement or redheaded Broadway starlets, Melissa can be found coaching Actors for auditions, playing Mario Kart with her husband Rob, directing or playing with her African Grey Buddy.
