Ten Dollar Dinners
d'Arabian's show Ten Dollar Dinners[3][4] premiered on August 9, 2009 on Food Network. The second season of the show premiered in January 2010. In addition to Ten Dollar Dinners, d'Arabian has also been a guest on Food Network's The Best Thing I Ever Ate, on the episodes "Best I Ever Drank"[5] and "With Garlic".[6] On November 20, 2010 Melissa d'Arabian was featured on CBS television's The Early Show segment, Thanksgiving Dinner on a Shoestring, in which d'Arabian was challenged to feed eight guests with a budget of 80 US Dollars. Her Early Show holiday menu included a roasted garlic-scented turkey with garlic scented stuffing, yam-marbled 2-in-1 mashed potatoes, sautéed red cabbage and apples with fennel, and a kale salad with spiced pecans.[7] In an interview with The Sacramento Bee in December 2010, d'Arabian offered creative ways to address Thanksgiving leftovers by focusing on "ethnic flavors".[8]
Melissa d'Arabian is represented by Josh Bider at WME.
Personal life
d'Arabian is married and has four young daughters: Valentine, Charlotte, and twins Margaux and Océane. She met her husband Philippe in France, where they went to a restaurant known as L'Alivi for their first date. Her mother committed suicide when Melissa was 20,[9] which Melissa says inspired her to learn to cook for others as her mother did for her. Melissa lived (at the time of The Next Food Network Star's filming) in Keller, Texas, but moved to Kirkland, Washington following the completion of filming.[10] She credits part of her culinary inspiration to French chef, Julia Child. As an undergraduate at the University of Vermont, Melissa was a member of Alpha Chi Omega. d'Arabian has an M.B.A. from Georgetown University.
