Early life and education
Melinda Haag graduated in 1983 from the John Muir College of the University of California, San Diego with a degree in Political Science.[3]
From there she went on to the Boalt School of Law at the University of California Berkeley. She graduated in 1987.
Career
Melinda Haag worked at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles between 1989 to 1993. In 1993, she transferred to the San Francisco office, where she worked until 2003. From 2003 to 2010, she had been a partner at the White Collar Criminal Defense and Corporate Investigations Group at the law firm of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe.[1]
Appointment as U.S. Attorney
Melinda Haag was appointed to the U.S. Attorney's office by President Barack Obama and unanimously confirmed without debate by the Senate in August 2010.[1]
