Melchor Feliú was appointed governor of Florida in 1762. During his rule was made the relayed of Florida to Great Britain by the Treaty of Paris on July 21, 1763.[1]. At Castillo de San Marcos, Governor Melchor de Feliu delivered the keys to Major John Hedges, at the moment the ranking representative of George III. Melchor Feliu oversees the removal of the Spanish troops and the entire population, that departed Florida to Cuba, which is regained in exchange. He left the government of Florida in 1763.The English were left with an empty city.[2]
