He started his boxing career at a very young age in a boxing club in Tehran called Shahid Beheshti in 1992. In his first match he faced an opponent that was much older and experienced than him, and he lost his first professional match of his career. But this was just a start for Mehdi, he was more dedicated than ever before and started training more seriously. It didn’t take a while before hi was on a winning track and then got invited to national boxing team of Iran. He became a champion at a very early stage and 2003 came to Norway to peruse his dream.[1] He was invited to the national boxing team of Norway right away from 2004 to 2008 he became the champion in his weight class 5 years in a row. In 2005 in the Norway Box tournament which was one the toughest tournaments at time in Europe Mehdi received a golden medal for Norway and in the same tournament in 2006 he received a bronze medal for Norway. In 2006 in Sweden he was able to win the best boxer champion for Norway and received a gold medal once again for Norway. Later on he was invited to play in the world championship games and Olympics for Norway, But because he had not yet received the Norwegian passport, he was not able to go and participate in this game. The Norwegian government has and uses the same policies for all foreigners, and it takes seven years to become a Norwegian citizen. This was very sad but Mehdi did not give up. He started his own boxing club and today trains some of the best known boxers in Norway.[2]
