McSweeney Point (82°49′S 166°40′E / 82.817°S 166.667°E) is a sharp rock point 3 nautical miles (6 km) east of the terminus of Davidson Glacier, overlooking the Ross Ice Shelf. Mapped by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) from tellurometer surveys (1961–62) and Navy air photos (1960). Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Lieutenant R.H. McSweeney, U.S. Navy, Commanding Officer of the USS Tombigbee during U.S. Navy Operation Deepfreeze 1963.
