Mačkovec (German: Katzendorf) is a settlement in the Kočevje municipality in southern Slovenia. It was a village settled by Gottschee Germans. During the Second World War its original population was expelled. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia statistical region.[2]

The local church, dedicated to Saint Anne, was built on the top of the hill known as Lovski vrh to the north of the settlement. It is also a site of a prehistoric Iron Age settlement. The pilgrimage church, a 16th century building that survived the Second World War, was demolished in 1953 or 1954.[3]
