Mayra Dias Gomes (born December 15, 1987) is a Brazilian author, journalist, columnist and media personality. She is the oldest daughter of Academy-Award nominated Brazilian playwright Dias Gomes and actress Bernadeth Lyzio.
Biography
Mayra Dias Gomes wrote her first novel, Fugalaça, in 2007, when she was seventeen, and it was highly successful in Brazil. Her second novel, One Thousand and One Nights of Silence, came out in 2009.
She worked for four years as a music reporter for the largest Brazilian newspaper, Folha de São Paulo and later became a biweekly addition, now writing a column called “On The Road”. She is also a reporter for Contigo! magazine and a collaborator and host for Spin Earth,[1] SPIN Magazine’s globalized website. In the past she has written for Teen Vogue, Isto É Gente, Viagem e Turismo, Mymag and Sexy magazine.[2] In 2009 she hosted a literature column on MTV Brazil.[3]
Mayra has been the star of many editorials and posed for Playboy Brazil in 2009.[4] In 2008 she did a five page spread for VIP Magazine.[5] She is also Sexy magazine's July cover, and has a 23 page nude spread in the edition.
She has spoken at book fairs and debates, and appears in a music video by the band Bastardz. In 2009, the Finnish government invited her to Helsinki to discover Finnish metal and bring it to Brazil.
She was the star of the campaign of the 2011 Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival [6] and one of the celebrities invited to attend the Marine Corps Ball in 2011. She attended the ball in San Diego. Other celebrities who attended include Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. [7]
Personal life
The writer is married to musician and actor Coyote Shivers. She was taken to the altar by Dee Dee Ramone's widow, Barbara Ramone. [8][9][10]
