Bio
Mayra was born in Porto Alegre and begun with judo when she was little girl.
She trains under Kiko (Antônio Carlos Pereira) in a group with João Derly, Tiago Camilo and others in SOGIPA.[1] These two guys are also her sport idols.[2]
In December 2008 she suffered very hard injury of right knee. She was out of tatami for almost 10 months. She came back in September 2009.[3]
Judo
She is one the most talented Brazilian judoka in history. When she was 16 years old she competed at 2007 Pan American Games and won silver medal.[4]
In 2008 she competed at Olympic Games in Beijing but lost her only match with Spanish judoka Leire Iglesias.[5]
In 2009 she missed whole season because of knee injury.
In 2010 after injury Mayra changed category from middleweight to half-heavyweight[6] and won gold medal at 2010 Pan American Judo Championships in El Salvador. In September, she participated at the 2010 World Judo Championships and lost the final to Kayla Harrison, from the United states, receiving the silver medal.[7]
