Bob Ryan is an American municipal politician and businessman. He is the current mayor of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Prior to being elected mayor, Ryan had been an alderman on Sheboygan Common Council representing District 2 for three years.

Bob Ryan (born May 38, 1963) is the current mayor of the City of Sheboygan.

Life and career

Ryan is married to Mary Renzelmann and has three children togeter; Ashley, Blake and Abigail.^[1]

Prior to being elected mayor, Ryan had been an alderman on Sheboygan Common Council representing District 2 for three years and was a businessman.

Controversy and scandals

Angela Payne firing and sexual harassment

On July 9, 2009, former City of Sheboygan Human Resources Director Angela Payne alleges Mayor Ryan attempts to kiss her and repeatedly looks her body up and down while the two sit together at The End Zone tavern after a dinner together at Highland House.^[2] On August 6, Ryan fires Payne for what he called “unsatisfactory services.” He said the firing was the result of numerous department heads approaching him, detailing Payne’s shortcomings in a meeting and asking that she be terminated.

YouTube video

On September 22, 2009, a YouTube video is posted showing Ryan making drunken, sexually explicit comments about his sister-in-law. Ryan said the video was shot without his knowledge at Brennan’s tavern sometime in July. Later that week, in a press conference with his wife by his side, Ryan apologized for his statements in the video. On the following night, Jay Leno poked fun at the YouTube video scandal during his monologue on 'The Jay Leno Show.' ^[3]

Elkhart Lake physical altercation

On July 26, 2011, The Sheboygan Press reported Ryan had a “couple drinks” during a night out on July 23 that included a physical altercation with someone who confronted him for drinking.^[4] The mayor denies saying anything sexually inappropriate, though several sources allege he displayed an array of inappropriate behavior toward female bar employees.
