Matthew Shija, (born April 17, 1924) is a Tanzanian prelate of the Roman Catholic Church.

Matthew Shija was born in Puge, Tanzania and was ordained a priest on January 17, 1954. Shija was appointed bishop of the Diocese of Kahamaon November 11, 1983 and was ordained bishop on February 26, 1984. Shija would serve until his retirement on April 24, 2001
