Matthew Halloran was born to Michael and Jean Halloran July 29, 1972. After moving around a lot as a small child, he, his brother, and mother settled in Kalamazoo, Michigan where he lived with his grandparents, Dr. Donald and Carma Van Liere.

Career
Military
Halloran graduated from Loy Norrix High School, focusing on music and debate. Being quite undecided on colleges Halloran joined the United States Navy and is a Persian Gulf War veteran. Halloran learned the first key to the success he found throughout the rest of his life, persistence. He rose quickly through the ranks to be meritoriously promoted to E5, earned his enlisted surface warfare specialist, and the navy achievement medal.
Education
After discharge from the Navy, he attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College getting his associates degree in philosophy with honors. He then transferred to Western Michigan University, becoming the news director of WIDR 89.1 fm, and graduating from the honors college with a bachelor’s degree in professional and applied ethics with a minor in communication.
Marrying his college sweetheart, Halloran and his wife Angela moved to Omaha, Nebraska when Halloran was awarded one of three paid internships in philosophy. He became an ethics consultant for Alegent Health Hospital Systems where he helped doctors, nurses and families of patients understand the ethical ramifications of medical decisions.
Work, life and beyond
Halloran continued his learning of the meaning of success managing the Midwest’s largest nursery. This is where he learned the meaning of successful management, kindness, latitude, and empowerment.
He then partnered with his wife at Boys Town working with at risk teenage youth for 5 years. This is where his twin boys were born, Derek and Wesley. Since Halloran was without a strong father figure for most of his life, he found this to be a great opportunity to be that father figure for boys who did not have one. This was a great experience that taught him that open and respectful feedback could allow you to choose to make great improvements to ones personal life.
Halloran then entered his Master’s degree program at Bellevue University. He studied counseling and coaching. After leaving boys town he became an outreach worker with a company called Community Alliance, where he worked with adults with severe and persistent mental illness. Halloran did his internship at Community Alliance and graduated with his Masters degree in counseling with a graduate certificate in life coaching.
He then when into private practice as a therapist and realized quickly that his confrontational style was not received well with his clients. He opened his own coaching company and found quickly that people looking for life and professional coaching enjoyed and responded well to his style.
Coaching
Understanding the difficulties of starting, growing, and running how own coaching company, he started at a local but nationwide coaching and consulting company called Peak Advisor Alliance.[1] With great support and freedom, Matthew co-created the True Wealth institute, True Wealth Coaching program and became one of the top speakers for the company.[2]
Halloran has been published in trade journals and is currently working on multiple writing projects. He speaks all over the country on helping entrepreneurs create long term vision for themselves and their companies, goal setting, the psychology of sales, and becoming irreplaceable to their clients.[3]
Halloran believes he is to be a personal telescope to his clients, helping them clarify their vision even thought it could be far off and blurry. When he helps them see it, then they can create a path to get there.
Halloran has been commissioned by Wiley and Bloomberg Finance to write a book on Social Media for Financial Advisors due to come out in March of 2012.
Halloran left coaching to focus on his charitable efforts, becoming the Director of National Development for GIVE Strategies, a company who's mission is to redirect one billion dollars to charity. Their focus is to connect financial advisors, estate planning attorneys, CPAs, donors, and planned giving directors to execute a proven systematic strategy. By connecting these professionals with donors, we can change the way planned giving is done in our country, offering it to a subset of the population that has not been offered these services in the past. Most people interviewed believe that planned giving is only for the ultra wealthy. GIVE Strategy has found a way to make it available to the general public.
