Matt Doherty, Jr. is a former Northern Irish professional association football player, for the Derry City FC.[1] He is the son of Matt Doherty, Sr., who also played for (and eventually managed) the Derry club.
Career
As an amateur, Doherty, Jr. played with Derry and District League teams, Don Bosco's F.C. and Foyle Harps Y.F.C. in his youth before signing as a pro for Derry City FC in the Irish League between 1956 and 1960. He returned to the club in 1963 and stayed there until 1970. Doherty also managed to win a "B" international cap for the Northern Ireland national football team.
