It lies in the valley of the Kolja stream, a minor right tributary of the river Savinja, and the surrounding hills to the southeast of Prebold. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Styria. The municipality is now included in the Savinja statistical region.[2]
The local church, built on the top of a steep hill known as Hom to the east of the settlement, is dedicated to Mary Magdalene and belongs to the Prebold parish. It is a single naved church dating to the second half of the 14th century with a free standing belfry built in 1725. [3]
