It lies in the hills to the south of Prebold. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Styria. The municipality is now included in the Savinja statistical region.[2]
The local parish church is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary and belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Celje. It was originally a 14th century church with major reconstruction in the 18th and 19th centuries.[3]
