He is currently on the A-League refereeing panel as an Assistant Referee as well as acting as a referee in the Western Australia State League. He is the Referees Coordinator for Football West.[1][2] A cult figure amongst the supporters in the Glory Shed, chants of "Cheeseman, Cheeseman" often ring out at the commencement of a match, or if a contentious decision goes the way of the Glory.
In 2010, Cheeseman won the Golden Whistle as Referee of the Year in the Western Australia State League for the first time, as well as Assistant Referee of the Year, an award which he has won two times previously in 2005 & 2009.[3]
