Masao Ito

Masao Ito ForMemRS (伊藤正男 Itō Masao?, born 1928 in Nagoya, Japan) is a Japanese neuroscientist, and director of the Riken Brain Science Institute.[1] He won the 2006 Gruber Neuroscience Prize,[2] and the 1996 Japan Prize.[3]

Life

He graduated from the University of Tokyo with an MD in 1953, and a Ph.D. in 1959. He was a research fellow at Australian National University from 1959 to 1962. He taught at the University of Toyko from 1963.[4]
